Looking to visit China’s most popular waterfall? Here’s how: From Xi’an East Bus Station, take a long-distance bus to Yichuan. The bus ticket cost 97.5RMB, and the trip takes around 4.5 hours.
Once in Yichuan, first, take a local taxi or Didi to Yichuan Bus Station and make sure to buy your return ticket from Yichaun back to Xi’an. The last bus ticket from Yichuan to Xi’an is at 5:40pm.
Next, take a taxi/illegal taxi/Didi to Hukou Waterfall. Out taxi cost 150RMB, roundtrip. He agreed to wait for us and allowed us to pay him the 150RMB after the return trip. Careful though, some taxi drivers will want 150RMB for one way, and 250RMB roundtrip. The drive from Yichuan Bus Station to Hukou Waterfall takes around 1 hour. Once at Hukou Waterfall, you’ll need to pay to enter, and your ticket includes a 5-minute shuttle bus ride to the scenic spot.
Tips: DO NOT wear any fancy clothing to Hukou Waterfall. The waterfall emits a dirt mist that will cover your entire body should you get close enough. Also, the ground is slippery in some areas, so wear shoes with a good grip. Lastly, I think 2 hours was enough time to enjoy the scenery and take tons of pictures and video.
