For all you avid photographers out there in Kunshan—including the Instagram crazy ones, too--here’s my list of the top 6 places to capture the best shots of the city. Enjoy!
Natural scenery. Check. Tai-chi practitioners. Check. Bird's eye view of the city? Check. Positive vibes. Families frolicking around. A zoo. An amusement park? Check. Check. Check. As Kunshan's sole hill—it's not manmade by the way--it only makes sense for you to get there and capture all the beauty under nature.
Yangcheng Lake is a great place to not only shoot photos of the city's infamous body of water, but it's also a fun destination to shoot the hustle and bustle of buying hairy crabs during peak season in October.
You want to shoot action shots of local people in Kunshan? Then head over to Renmin Road, which is arguably the city's most popular shopping street. You’ve got families, couples, children, elderly, rich, poor—EVERYBODY.
Kunshan Citizen's Park
Kunshan Citizen’s Park is another excellent place to catch shots of the locals in action, especially from June to August where it seems as if every resident in the city is engaging in some type of activity at the park. You've got joggers, square dancing, soccer, badminton, you name it.
So maybe you're not into shots of nature or watching people. You figure you're in China and you want to capture the historical landmarks and items representative of the culture. Well, pay a visit to Kunshan's Huiji Temple. It's loaded with colorful and decorative Buddhist statues, paintings, wall carvings, and shrines that are guaranteed to look great on film and the gram'. This is a MUST SEE.
Any Ancient Water Town
And last but not least, Kunshan is home to 3 popular ancient water towns--Zhouzuang Ancient Water Town, Jinxi Ancient Water Town, and Qiandeng Ancient Water Town. Each is a perfect setting for capturing the best shots of traditional Chinese culture, history, and architecture. I recommend heading to Zhouzhuang or Jinxi first.
