One of my biggest regrets of traveling across Tokyo was not spending enough time enjoying all the mouthwatering food and wildly entertaining leisure activities that Tokyo Dome City had to offer.
After hopping off of the metro the first stop I made was in front of Tokyo Dome, a massive multi-purpose stadium that was hosting a sold-out baseball game at the time of my arrival. The cheering and “oohs and ahhs” coming from inside the stadium were overwhelmingly thunderous, and from a small open gate I could peer into the stadium to watch part of the action. And boy, was I hooked.
Despite being a solo traveler, I decided that watching a baseball game in Japan was something I didn’t want to miss out on, but unfortunately, after making my way over to the ticket office I was told that the game was nearly over and they were no longer selling tickets. Well, I guess there’s always next time. Fail!
Next up was a stop over at Tokyo Dome City; the dining and entertainment portion of the area that consisted of a mall, restaurants, and a few thrilling amusement rides.
There were two rides that peaked my interest: a slightly tall rollercoaster with a big first drop, and a vertical ride that lifted passengers up high in the sky, only to drop them back down fast towards the ground. I’d sit and stare at the rides for a long while, debating whether or not I was suitable to go on them.
Why suitable? Because I had done a lot of drinking the night before while partying in Shibuya, and having slept in the confines of a capsule hotel afterwards, let’s just say that I was still pretty hung-over and felt like absolute sh*t. Thus, my stomach and I decided to pass on the amusement rides.
In the end, what I did manage to do was stop at a fast food joint and pick up a delicious tostada-like food item that I made sure to eat very slowly as not to upset my stomach. As I munched on I had the chance to observe the beautiful formation of clouds settling in over Tokyo on that particular, crisp autumn day.
The next time I head to Tokyo, I’ll definitely make sure to plan ahead to enjoy a baseball game at Tokyo Dome and enjoy the amusement rides at Tokyo Dome City!
