Things to Do in Kunshan, China + ATTRACTIONS + UNIQUE EXPERIENCES. SEE MY TRAVEL ADVENTUReS IN KUNSHAN! | by a FORMER Kunshan Expat
I had the chance to check out the Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival in Kunshan, China in the evening of September 29th, 2015. For one, the event is a remarkable sight to see and a good opportunity to catch an up close and personal look at one of China’s rich cultural and historical traditions; after all, around this time, you’ll find many people heading home to visit their family and friends, exchanging gifts, preparing decorations, sending lanterns off into the sky, and snacking on mooncakes at every turn.
Two, the Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival easily holds the #2 spot on the list of popular holidays in China, just after Spring Festival. With that in mind, the event is always crowded and is visited by thousands of locals and tourist each day during its opening period. This means that you’ll need to walk through large gathering just to arrive at the entrance, then wait in long lines to buy tickets, and duck and dodge visitors while trying to view the lanterns. If you’re planning to head to the festivals in the future, I suggest purchasing your tickets in advance or at a ticket box situated away from the event.
Alright, back on a better note: Here’s a few photos and a videos of my experience at the 2015 Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival in Kunshan, China!
