[WATCH] Vlog: Seeing My First Ever Space Rocket Launch in China at Wenchang Space Satellite Launch Center!
I did it. I watched my first ever space rocket launch in China at the Wenchang Space Satellite Launch Center on Hainan Island. It was the Long March 5 launch that took place in July. Here's a recap of my EPIC experience.
Hohhot. Xilarumen Grasslands. Mongolian lamb. Yurts. Camel riding & Xiangshawan Desert. Yep, I did it all! I had the adventure of a lifetime exploring Hohhot, Inner Mongolia. I went as a solo traveler at the end of June and linked up with a local tour group to explore popular attractions. Check a video of my trip to Hohhot, Inner Mongolia up above!
I turned 30 years old in Guilin. I went on a Lijiang River cruise, went cycling along Yulong River, took a bamboo raft on Yulong River, hiked Moon Hill, and sae the Yangshuo Impressions Light Show. What a fantastic way to bring in the next chapter in my life!...READ MORE.
I just spend 5 days touring Sydney, Australia and it was one of the BEST trips that I've ever made! Seriously! I explored many top attractions across town via the Bus Bus Tour Sydney, ate delicious food, took a 15 minute flight above the city on Sydney Seaplanes, went whale watching, and much more! Check out a 1 minute video highlight of my adventures!
I had the chance to take a ride on the Sydney Seaplanes Highlights Tour on the last day of my amazing adventure in Sydney, Australia. The tour offered a spectacular view of Sydney from up to 1000 feet above the city. It only lasted 15 minutes, but it was a memory of a lifetime!
I had the chance to stop by Sydney's Bondi Beach and catch sight of a large group of young surfers training about how to attack the waves. It was actually the first time ever that I've caught a surfing class in action. No kidding!
I've just stayed in a capsule hotel in Sydney, Australia, and it was an AMAZING experience! It wasn't my first time experiencing a capsule hotel though; that special adventure took place during my trip to Tokyo, Japan back in 2014. If you don't know what it's like staying in a capsule hotel, here's a short preview!
A trip on Hong Kong's Big Bus Tour is one of the best things you can do when exploring the region. SERIOUSLY! Not only will you catch wind of all the major attractions riddled across Hong Kong such as Sky 100, Repulse Bay, Peak Tram, Victoria Harbour, and Ocean Park, but you'll also have the opportunity to lay eyes upon one of the most beautiful cityscapes you'll ever see in your life! Don;t believe me; well, check out my video!
Hong Kong apartments are absolutely ridiculous, in a good way of course! Just looking at them; I mean, they're some of the tallest, most densely packed, most expensive, and most beautiful apartments I have ever seen in my life. Take a look for yourself.
I visited Hainan Island to watch the Long March 5 rocket launch at Wenchang Space Satellite Launch Center on July 3rd, 2017! Here's a recap of the launch!

China’s 2017 Dragonboat Festival kicked off this past weekend. Dragonboat races and water sports activities were held all across the country, which meant that the crowds were out in full effect. I had the chance to make it out to Suzhou to catch my first ever Dragonboat Race. There were over 100 teams that included men, women, locals, and foreigners, and plenty of Dragonboats of different sizes.
Each Dragonboat consisted of a drummer, paddlers, and a sweep. In a race, paddlers are led by the rhythmic pulse of a drummer. They’ll call out chants, issue commands, and most importantly, make sure the paddlers are synchronized while the sweep steers the direction of the boat.
Once lined up, a flag was waved and the 500-meter race began. After seeing the Dragonboat races for the first time I could only think of one thing: I have to participate next Year!

Mobike, Ofo, Youon, just some of the number of bike sharing brands that have popped up all across Shanghai. That's right, I live in Shanghai and in the last year had the chance to see thousands of bikes take over the city. How does bike sharing in Shanghai work? Well, each brand has an app. Download the app, put down a deposit, add credits, and use it to locate a bike. Once at the bike, scan its QR code to unlock it. Once unlocked, ride the bike anywhere around the city. When you're finished, park the bike on the sidewalk and lock it. You don't need to return them to a specific station. And just like that, you're finished!

Hey what’s up everybody, Don from Don’s ESL Adventure here bringing you yet another video of life in China. This video takes place in Shenzhen. I was walking along Dongmen Pedestrian Street on a sweltering, hot night out when I ran into this small amusement park that was crowded with locals. I was probably the only foreigner there come to think of it. But what was the most entertaining aspect of the park was this spinning dance ride that I had NEVER seen before. As you can see in the video, riders would hop onboard this open aired boxing ring. It would spin in a circle as riders tried to hang on for dear life. When it slowed down, many of the people took advantage of it by just dancing to the music that was playing and trying to keep balance. I’ll admit; it was interesting, strange, and looked really fun all at the same time. My only regret is that I didn’t give it a try!
One of my favorite travel highlights throughout my adventures in China was riding aboard Chongqing's Yangtze River Cableway. If you're in China and haven't been to Chongqing, make sure your next trip is to China's 2nd largest city!
Take a brief look at what it’s like to ride aboard a high-speed train in China. If you don’t know, China has the world’s largest high-speed railway network. As an expat living in the country for over 5 years, it has made my life and travels much more easier and convenient. I just have one important question: when is the US going to catch up?
Shanghai Tower is the 2nd tallest skyscraper in the world right after the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. I had a chance to visit Shanghai Tower back in August of 2016 after learning that its observation deck had finally opened to the public. Check out a snippet of my adventures in the Shanghai Tower up above, or read about my trip here!
China's Rainbow Mountains, located at Zhangye Danxia Geological Park in Zhangye, Gansu Province, were spectacular! I had never seen ANY natural scenery like that ever in my life prior to the trip. A friend of mine had showed me a photo of rainbow mountains early on when I arrived in China back in 2012, and I finally had the chance to visit them just last year. Check out a snippet of my amazing adventure at Rainbow Mountains in China! Follow me on Instagram @ Donesladventure and on Youtube at Don's ESL Adventure!
My mom and I had the chance to hike up Mount Rubidoux Memorial Park in Riverside, California on a clear and beautiful sunny afternoon. Here's a recap of our trip. The video is sped up a bit. Get to know life in the USA!
Destination: Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona, USA. First, by Greyhound Bus: Los Angeles to Phoenix is 372 miles. That meant 7hrs of beautiful sights and immense anticipation. I'd meet with my friend later in the evening. Day 2: Phoenix to the Grand Canyon by rental car ($91). The 4hr. drive from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon was remarkably scenic. We'd arrive at the South Rim Entrance of Grand Canyon National Park and stop over at Mather Point. The rest, well, just check out the video!
OUE Skyspace LA is definitely a stop you must make if you're planning to take on Los Angeles. It's an indoor and outdoor observation deck located on the 70th floor of the tallest building in downtown LA, the US Bank Tower. Check out a short video of my awesome trip to OUE Skyspace LA!
My trip to Grand Canyon National Park was an epic adventure of a lifetime! It was the top destination that I wanted to explore during my Chinese New Year vacation, in which I traveled home from China for just a little over 2 weeks. I'm glad everything worked out and that I made the journey with one of my closest friends! Check out the video above!
There's no place like home! That's right, I had the opportunity to visit my hometown of Los Angeles, California during Chinese New Year + Spring Festival 2017. There was a passing in the family, so many of my cousins, nieces, and nephews that I had not seen in a very long time gathered together to celebrate their life. Here's a recap of my life in the USA!
